師走になりましたね。

December has come.

急に寒くなって、のどがちょっと…　という方、多いのではないでしょうか？　

私もそんなにのどが強い方ではないので、乾燥している日中だけでなく寝る時もマスクをしています。

"It's getting cold suddenly, so my throat is... (cough)" Is that you? My throat is not too strong in the winter time, so I wear a mask not only in dry daytime but also while I sleep.

エヘン虫のイガイガを自覚しそうなその直前、そんな時には殺菌作用の高いユーカリオイルがお薦めです。

When just before I was aware of something weird at my throat, I was recommended eucalyptus oil whose bactericidal action is high.

マスクに１〜２滴垂らせば、抗菌作用の高いマスクになります。（写真はきき手じゃない方でやっていたので垂らし過ぎ！）

1-2 drops are onto a mask, then just wear it as regular. it's a high antibacterial action mask. (it's too much in a picture. I'm right-handed and was dropping it with my left hand!)

「オイルで風邪が治ったら医者はいらないよ〜ぅ」と思っているあなた。私も半信半疑でしたが、以前ニアウリで鼻の通りがよくなってから、他の精油にも興味津々。

"If those essential oils cures cold, we don't need doctor!" Do you think so? I also thought that before, but after Niaouli made my breath easier, I got interested in other oils too.

風邪が完治するには十分な栄養と休養が必要ですが、予防は基本のうがい・手洗いに加えてオイルという選択肢もあるようです。

Although sufficient nutrition and rest is the best medicine to get well completely. But oil can be one of choices for prevention in addition to gargling and washing hands as a basic.

I should have noticed (as a graphic designer) that a logo of a bakery is unique and memorable, their breads are also worth to remember.

今日はこの14年間で初めて降り立った、東小金井駅で用事がありました。

I had a friend to meet in Higashi Koganei today, which I got off the first time in this 14 years.

実は３グレインをお土産にまるごと１本いただいたのに、ご自身のをちぎってわけていただいて。「温かいうちがおいしいから！」。その通りです：）

天気もよいし、パンもないので（苦笑）、パン・ランに。今日は右膝も調子がいいようです。

Today was a fine day and no bread at home, so I went out for bread running. My right knee is in good moon too (phew!).

不思議な外観の建物を過ぎると…

The reason why they chose a name, otto-pan, is that when they had this bakery in Yutenji, there was a furniture shop called Kaki-hachi (eight) and imply suehirogari (The leg of a kanji of eight is spread toward to the end, which could be seen the future is wide open)

お昼前に行ったのですが、すでに人気のクリームパンは売り切れ…

I went there before noon, but the most popular item, cream-pan (custard in a bread), was sold out.

race: Tanzawa Bokka Ekiden

今日、丹沢ボッカ駅伝競争という大会を知りました。

Just got to known Tanzawa-bokka Ekiden race today.

詳細に入る前に「ボッカ」とは何ぞや？　

これは「歩荷」で、文字通り「運送形態の1種で、背中に荷物を背負って人間が目的地まで直接徒歩で運搬すること」（wikipediaより）。

Before I'm going to details, what is Bokka? Bokka is literally "you carry heavy things on your own back and walk to the final destination by foot." (from wikipedia)

● Start at the Prefectural Hatano Togawa park. Each team has four members to do ekiden with carrying gravels along a trail from Ookura-Ridge, Horiyama, Hanadate (6187m length, 1010m difference in altitude) is divided into four sections:

• Ward 1 (2707m): Hatano Togawa Prefectural Park (290m) view point Miharashi goya (610m altitude)

• Ward 2 (1241m): from Miharu chaya (610m elevation) to Komadome Chaya (900m altitude)

• Ward 3 (1054m): from Komadome chaya (900m elevation) to Horiyama House (950m altitude)

• Ward 4 (1185m): from Horiyama house (950m elevation) to Hanadate Sanso cavin (1300m altitude)

A category: 40kg men over age 18 (or mixed genders) 14,000 yen

B1 category: 20kg men and women over age 18 (or mixed genders) 14,000 yen

B3 category: 20kg male high school students (6,000 yen for mixed genders

ただいまです。ちょっと韓国出張で留守にしていました。せっかくなので最終日、空港に向かう１時間前に韓国山岳マラソン連盟事務所にお邪魔してきました。

Just came back from Seoul, Korea, for business. I visited an office of Korean Climbathon Federation one hour before I headed to an airport.

最寄り駅はソウル地下鉄２号線の総合運動場駅／종합운동장역。1988年の夏季オリンピックのためプラットホームが広く造られたそうです。スポーツのイラストもあしらってありました。

The nearest station is Sports Complex Station, Seoul subway line 2. They've built a wider platform for the sake of Summer Olympic in 1988.

韓江の南側に位置しています。

ちなみに韓国人のピースの仕方ですが、こちらに少し解説があるのでどうぞw（３６秒くらい）。

今回新たにお会いしたのが、ソンバ・ライフニュース／송파라이프뉴스の代表理事イ・ウォンガプさん。

I met Mr. Lee Wong Gap, Representative Director of Songpa Life News.

パク・チュンギュンさんとは長いご友人で、元々は大会で知り合われたそうです。トレッキングやトレイルランをなさっていらっしゃいます。

He met Mr. Park at a race at the first time and since then they've known each other for a long time. He does trekking and trail running.

あまり時間がなかったのでご挨拶だけ…　と思っていたらパク・チュンギュンさんが何度も「パン食べる？　パン？」と（笑）。ありがとうございます、パン・ランナーだと覚えていただいていて。

I didn't have much time, so I just wanted to say hi, but Mr. Park said "Would you like some bread?" Thank you very much for remembering that I'm a bread runner :-)

事務所は地下なのですが、ちょうど上がパン屋さんでいい香りが階段まで漂っていました。

An office was under ground, but there is a bakery at ground floor. It was full of fresh bread aroma at stairs.

今回別件の取材での訪韓だったのですが、ソウルからアクセスのよいトレッキングもできそうな山の話を少し聞いて来ました。プラス、トレラン+アルファな話も…！？　正式に決まったらご紹介しますね。

気がつけば今年も残り２ヶ月を切っていますね…　まだ書き残していることがたくさんあることに気づきました。

I just noticed it's less than two months left this year... So many things not to write yet though!

例えば三段峡！（お盆の話だよ…）前回三段滝まで行きましたが、その続きです。

For instance, about Sandankyo trail! (Isn't it about summer!?) Last time I wrote where we were at Sandan-taki.

昨日オープンした有楽町LUMINEですが、JR有楽町駅銀座口前からLUMINEに行くまでの高架下に「ルミネストリート」も一日前からオープンしています。

Yurakucho LUMINE grand opened yesterday. Not only a shop, but also LUMINE STREET from JR Yurakucho Sta. opened from one day before.

5,000人が並んだとか…！

They said that 5,000 people were cuing up...!

ちなみに24秒ごろに見えるPARIGOTは広島からの出店ですヨ。

PARIGOT at about 24 sec. is Hiroshima's retailer who sells "selected items," btw.

ルミネストリートにはTabioのお店もできていました。しかもTABIO SPORTSが一番前面に陳列されています。

There is Tabio at LUMINE STREET and they set a shelf of TABIO SPORTS up front.

営業時間11:00-21:00なので、皇居ランナーも会社帰りにここに寄ってから走りに行けますね。

They open 11:00-21:00, so runners around Imperial Palace can buy a pair of socks after work if they want.

膝のニキニキと仲良く生活している今日この頃です。

I try to have a good relationships with my niki-niki knee these days.

シューズもこれよりソールが厚めのものに変えたのはいいのですが、所詮メンズなので大きい！　靴紐も二重にしないとほどけてしまいます。

Changes my shoes to this since it has thicker soles than these shoes, but these are men's shoes so I have an extra room at heel. And shoelaces must be tied twice otherwise it'd be losen soon after starting to run.

When you participate in a race, how do you take pictures of yourself? Asking a family member or friends? Or stretching out your arm and shoot? (that is what I usually do) But it might be difficult to take a picture of your memorable best shot?

沿道で、時にはトレイルの中で、写真を撮ってくれるフォトグラファーの方々に気づかれたことがあるでしょうか？　あるいはゼッケンのパケットセットの中に「あなたの勇姿をインターネットで見られます」という写真販売サイトのチラシをご覧になったことは？

Have you ever noticed photographers in a trail or along a road when you run? Or have you ever seen a flier in the packet said "Check out pictures of you at a race on the internet"?

It started with a marathon seven years ago and now they cover various sports such as marathon, trail running, bicycle, basketball, rugby, soccer, baseball, and cheers etc. They have about 1,000 professional photographers all over Japan in commission based, send them for each event, taking pictures, and sell pictures online sales later online.

先日の第１回三原・白竜湖トレイルランレースでもトレイル内だけでなく、ゴール後のこんなシーンもばっちり撮影してくださいました。（それにしても私が疲弊してヘロっているのがよくわかる…）

They took pictures not only in a trail but also at a goal at the first Mihara and Hakuryuko Trail running race the other day. (I was so worn out as you see here...)

さて、その株式会社フォトクリエイト、プロフォトソリューション本部のプロフォト部長、石崎真生さんにお話をうかがう機会がありました。実は石崎さんは先日行われたrun like a girlイベントに個人的に参加なさっていらっしゃいました。

I had an opportunity to speak with Ms. Mai Ishizaki, a professional photograph division manager of Pro Photo Solution headquarter, Photocreate Co.,Ltd. In fact, she participated in privately run like a girl event the other day.

「だいたい市民マラソン大会ですと、1,000人に対してカメラマン１〜２名がつきます。東京マラソンですと約７０名のカメラマンが担当しています」。なるほど、３万人規模の大会ですからね…

"If it is a regular citizens' marathon, one or two photographers will cover 1,000 participants.

About 70 photographers are in charge at Tokyo Marathon." I see, it is a 30,000-participant size race, that makes sense.

2010年度には26,712件のイベントを掲載されたそうです。その中にはダンスライフ（社交ダンス）、ステージライフ（音楽イベント）、ヨイショット！（日本全国のお祭り）、フォトチョイス（ドッグフェスタ、バレエ、大学イベントなど前出以外のイベント）、スナップスナップ（スクールフォト）、サーキットフォト（モータースポーツ@もてぎ、鈴鹿）が含まれています。

They said to take pictures at 26,712 events in the 2010 fiscal year. That includes Dance Life (social dance competitions), a stage life (music events), Yoi-Shot! (festivals all over Japan), Photo Choice (any other events besides are introduced above such as dog shows, ballet competitions, university events, etc.), Snap Snap (an school event), and Circuit Photo (motor sports at Motegi and Suzuka).

イベント、大会と言っても想像以上に多岐に渡っていることに気づかされ、目からウロコです。また、動画の販売も今後は視野に入れて行かれるそうです。

Even if we talk about events or races, there are actually so many of them than what we can think of, which is so new to me. Also they will move onto motion pictures sales from now on.

元々水泳をなさっていた石崎さん。引っ越しを機に近くにプールが無くなり、水から遠ざかっていたときにハセツネに仕事で向かいます。「６年ほど前でしたか？　カメラマンと一緒に現地入りしました。皆さん、夜中に次々とゴールに帰ってくる。あるおじさんが一人でゴールされて、特に友人も家族も待っている様子でもない。『どうされるのかな…』と思っていたら更衣室から大きなザックをかついで出てきてそのままトボトボ帰って行かれたのです」。そこで思われたのが「この仕事は止めてはいけない」と。

Ishizaki-san likes to swim. When she moved, she didn't have a swimming pool near by any longer and that kept her away from swimming. Around that time, she went to Hasetsune for work. "Was it about six years ago? I arrived there with a photographer. Many participants came back to a goal one after another in the middle of night. One middle age man finished alone because no friends nor family members welcomed him. I was wondering how he would do after a goal. He changed his clothes in a changing room and carried heavy backpack and just left and his back looked lonely. Then I promised myself at that moment, "I must keep doing this work."

そして確かにゴールの写真だけでも記念なのですが、コース途中の写真こそ臨場感溢れていますよね。はじめの2年はゴールのみの撮影だったそうですが、2年連続ゴールに張り付いていたフォトグラファーからの「これはコースに入らないと、このレースの醍醐味がわからないのでは？」という提案で、翌年からトレイル内での撮影を開始。フォトグラファーを本気にさせたゴールの様子が伺えます。

Although a shot at a goal can be a great memory for each runner, but a shot of you at a trail can be more exciting, isn't it? Since they've started shooting Hasetsune, they've been at a goal to take pictures of runners. A photographer who has been in a charge for that two years made a proposal, "It can't be more real unless we goes into a course, isn't it?" We started to shoot in a trail from a following year. That's how it's started. We can imagine how exciting at a goal, which made a photographer moved that much.

もちろん夜のトレイルでの撮影では続々と来るランナーにあらかじめ「この先フラッシュたきます〜！」と警告をして、万全の準備を整えての撮影です。ハセツネは2日間で実質５、６名のカメラマンが入るのですが、うち２名は同じ方がこの６年間担当なさっているそうです。「今ではトレイルに入るカメラマンの方がアツいですよ（笑）」。

When they've been taken pictures in the middle of a trail at night, they warn runners in advance "you'll see a flash of lightning soon!" 5 or 6 photographers are in charge for Hasetsune in two days and two of them are same photographers for these six years. "Now photographers get more into it (laugh) ."

ハセツネでの撮影についてそれこそアツく語ってくださった石崎さん。実は目標があるとか。

「４０歳でハセツネに出場したいです」。元々水泳も生涯スポーツ。７０代の女性スイマーが元気に活躍しているのを見たことがある彼女。ハセツネも同じく５０代、６０代のランナーが元気に参加している様を見て、自分も挑戦したいと思われたそうです。

When Ishizaki-san talked about a photographing at Hasetsune, the way of her talk was heated up. She said to have one aim. "I would like to participate in Hasetsune myself at an age of 40."

Swimming is also a lifelong sport. She saw female swimmers at her ages of 70's were still active in a swimming pool. She also saw 50's- or 60's- runners participated with full of energy at Hasetsune, which made her mind to challenge that race.

「トレランは自分との見つめ合いだと思います」。自分との「戦い」でないところが石崎さんの人柄を表していると思います。

"Trail running is a sport which you 'confront' yourself." I think not "fighting" yourself shows what kind person Ishizaki-san is.

I saw this in the morning news at KBS in Busan on October 10. Its video is here.

5本指シューズについてはこれまでに何度か書きましたが、FILA社の4つ割つま先シューズ（薬指と小指は一緒に入れる）は約２年前にアイディアが出されたそうです。

I wrote about five fingers before, but FILA's Skete-Toes (four-toe) shoes' idea was born two years ago.

中国で大量生産のために工場を探していましたが、指を分けるための上下に縫製するラインが組み込めない。

They were looking for a factory in China for mass production but a sewing machine goes up and down for dividing a finger cannot be set in a production system.

「一般的には［つま先は］ただ丸く縫えばいいが、これは上下上下に縫わなければならない」。FILA社USA社長のジョン・エプスティン氏。

"we sew just round in general, but this has to go up-and-down." Mr. John Epstein, FILA USA president.

そこで釜山在社の靴の縫製会社が新しい縫い型（システム）を作り、大量生産が可能になりました。NYのタイムズスクエアのある店舗では1週間に50~100足売れているとのこと。

Then, a shoe sewing company in Busan made a special system for them and made it possible. Now between 50 and 100 pairs of shoes per week are sold at one store in Times Square in NY.

釜山は履物産業で有名だったんですね。現在韓国で売られているナイキシューズにはMade in China, Made in Vietnamと書かれている商品が多いそうですが、実は韓国資本の工場をベトナムや中国に作り、現地生産。そこから輸入しているので表記上そうなっているだけだそうです。（履物産業PRセンターHPより）

I didn't know Busan has been famous for footwear industry. They said that Nike shoes sold in Korea now has Made in China or Made in Vietnam seals on them but it's actually those factories are built with South Korean's capital. They made outside of Korea and import them, so it's only a notation issue. (Footwear industrial promotion center's website)

釜山国際スマートシューズ＆パーツフェアも10月14日から開催されるようですね。（しかしスマートシューズって…笑）

BISS (Busan International Smart Shoes and parts fair) will be held from October 14. (Now we have not only smart phone, but also smart shoes, huh?)

来年はどんなランニングシューズが登場するのでしょうか？　楽しみです。

Here is an interview to Shunsuke Okunomiya, one week later of the Mihara Hakuryuko race 2011.

今回はコースディレクター東徹さんのインタビューです。

Today I bring you an interview to Toru Higashi, course director.

大会から約1週間が経ちました。普段は競技者として大会にご参加なさることがほとんどだと思います。振り返られていかがですか？

大会がゼロからのスタートだったので途中でどうなるか不安でしたが多くの方の協力も得られ無事開催できたのでやる気になればできるものだと思いました。正直、無事大会を終えることができほっとしています。

大会を運営する側としては、参加し「楽しかった」、「また来年も出たい」という声を聞けることがとてもうれしいですね。また、走友会以外の地元の協力者の方からもスタッフをしていて楽しかったとの声もあり、大会ができて良かったと思いました。

About one week has passed after a race. You usually participate at a race as an athlete, don't you? How do you feel or what do you think now?

This race was made from a scratch, so I was nervous how it went. But we had many helps and supports and a race was able to be carried out for real. So I thought that we could do it if we really want to make it happened. I'm so relieved now that the first race was over.

I'm glad to hear comments from participants such as "I had fun" or "I'd like to participate next year too" as the one who was at a management side. And I also think it was good to have this race since I hear same comments from those who were staff members but not members of Daiwa Soyukai.

奥宮さんが東さんにこの大会のお話をされたのは昨年の菅平の大会と伺っています。最初お聞きになられた時、どのようにお感じになられましたか？

西日本ではほとんど大会が無いので、大会ができれば西日本でもトレイルランが盛り上がるきっかけになるだろうなと思いました。そのときは具体的な場所も決まってなかったと思うので、近くであれば協力できることはやろうと思っていました。

一部の人かもしれませんがトレイルランのレースは関東・中部周辺が中心になるので、どうしても西日本の選手に対してアウェイ感があります。西日本にはマラソンなどで活躍するランナーも多くいるのでそういった選手がトレイルランにも出て行くきっかけにしたいという思いもありました。

I've heard that Okunomiya-san told you about this race last year at Sugadaira race. When you heard about this idea, what did you think?

There is little number of trail running races in west Japan, so it'd be a good chance to make trail running as a sport more popular in west Japan. I think where a race would be held has not decided yet back then and I was ready to be any help when things started to get rolled.

This may not everybody feels or thinks, but trail running races are often held in Kanto or Chubu area, so it seems to have some "distance" not only geographically but also mentally for athletes in west Japan. Since many runners who play active in a marathon etc. are in west Japan, I wished that this could be a good chance for them to encounter trail running.

大和走友会でメンバーのみが参加するような大会を開催なさったことはありますか？　今回の大会と比べ、規模以外での違いは何だったでしょうか？　また以前の経験が役立った点は？

大和走友会では時々練習会のようなことはやっています。ただ、参加者は走友会メンバーとその知り合いだけなので大会とはちょっと違うかもしれません。身内でのイベントと参加料をもらって参加者を募ってやるイベントでは責任という部分で全く違うのでプレッシャーがありました。

以前の経験が役に立ったことはスタッフの募集や配置です。気の知れた仲間なので無理もお願いできたし，業務を安心して任せることができました。

今後他の大会に参加する際は、どこが主体でやっている大会なのか、どのような構成で運営しているのか、運営資金の集め方は、など研究したいと思います。

Have Daiwa Soyu-kai ever done any races which only club members can participate? If so, what's differences compared with this race, besides a size of a race? Also is there any experiences from that helped you this time?

We do sometimes a sort of races, but participants are members or our running friends, so it's not a real race. The responsibility is totally different between events which running "friends" do together for just fun and events which someone pays for it. There are lots of pressures.

What my experiences helps me is how to call for staff members or how to assign them during a preparation. We knew each other well so I was able to ask them something unreasonable and I had no worries to leave works to them.

Next time when I participate in other races, I'll make sure to check who are committee members, what kind of system they have, how to raise fund, etc.

お務めは三原市の農林水産課ということですが、普段のお仕事（公務員）、大和走友会（ボランティア）、東徹（競技者）と奇しくも一人三役を兼ねた立場にいらっしゃいます。どのようにバランスを取られましたか？

仕事は仕事、趣味は趣味なのであまりバランスをとるというようなことはなかったです。少しは三原市のPRになったので三原市の職員としては市に貢献できたかもしれません。

大和走友会は競技を続けていくために所属させてもらっている団体です。今回の大会に向けて大和走友会としてメンバーがたくさん協力してもらえたので本当に助かりました。

You work for Mihara City, at the agriculture, forestry and fishery division. As Government officer (public worker), a member of Daiwa Souyu-kai (volunteer), and Toru Higashi (athlete), you play three roles by yourself only. How do you keep that balance?

Work is work, and a hobby is a hobby. So not really keeping a balance, I'd say. This may become a help to do little PR of Mihara city, so hope I contributed some [to Mihara city]. Daiwa Souyu-kai is a club which allows me to continue my athlete's days. Many club members gave me lots of help and it saved me very much.

競技者としては、ロング１位・２位の沖野選手、福永選手のような実績もあり強い選手が出場してくれたことで大会のレベルも高くなり嬉しかったです。またショートでも地元で一緒に走っている福地選手が優勝、谷光選手が５位と活躍し、身近なところでも収穫がありました。

As an athlete, I was glad to have Okino and Fukunaga, the first and second prize winner for a long course, who had good track records and real athletes at this race. Because it made this race level higher. As a short course, Fukuchi who run together locally, won the first prize and Tanimitsu also was the fifth place so I think we [Daiwa Soyu-kai] had something to be proud of.

個人的な競技の面では大会の準備のために少し無理をした感じがあります。６月７月頃はちょうど故障、８月はおんたけスカイレースに向けて調整したのでたいして走らなくても良かったですが９月に入ってからは走る時間が無くて大変でした。

As an athlete? Well, I used my time to practice for a race preparation. I was not in a good condition this June and July, it was ok because I was aiming for Ontake Sky race this August so not necessary to run too much, but I really didn't have time to practice at all which was difficult for me.

インターネット上の大会レポート投稿サイトになかなか辛口のコメントが寄せられています。それを踏まえて、どのように第２回以降につなげていかれたいですか？

コメントいただけることはありがたいことですし，貴重な意見として今後の参考にしなければいけないと思います。コメントにあったように運営側のミスで参加者が不快な思いを持たれた所はたくさんあります。今後続けていくには運営側もしっかり組織を作って、余裕のある運営をしていけるようにしたいです。

また、西日本ではトレイルランの認知度がまだ高くないので、トレイルラン［という競技］の特徴を理解いただいていない参加者もおられると思います。次回の参加者募集の際には情報をできるだけ発信し、大会の内容を理解いただいた上で参加いただきただけるようにしたいと思います。

There are some tough comments at a race portal site where people gather comments. What would you think of their opinions and how would you like to do for the next race?

I appreciate to have comments even they are tough comments and we should listen to them to improve our race. As they made points, lack of our preparations made participants feel unpleasant at many things. To carry out this race, we management side need to make our committee more firmly and manage things with less hustle.

And trail running is still minor sport in west Japan, so there are some participants who don't know about this sport's character very well. We try to do output many information about that before a next race and let them know and understand it well enough before they sign up.

第２回は選手で参加なさるご予定は？

出てみたい気持ちはありますが当分は運営側としてがんばります。

Are you planning to participate a race next year?

I'm interested in, but will be on a management side for a while.

先日９月１８日、開催された第１回三原・白竜湖トレイルランレース。大会が終わって約1週間後、レースアドバイザー奥宮俊祐さん、コースディレクター東徹さんにインタビューを行いました。

The Mihara Hakuryuko race 2011 was held on September 18th. I interviewed Shunsuke Okunomiya, race advisor, and Toru Higashi, course director, about one week later.

大会から約1週間が経ちました。振り返られていかがですか？

大きなトラブルや事故もなく無事に終了したことにホッとしております。東さんをはじめ、地元の大和走友会・本郷アスリートクラブの皆様のおかげで無事に開催できたと思います。距離的に厳しいですが、もっと事前の打ち合わせや準備がしたかったと思っています。

About one week has passed after a race. How do you feel or what do you think now?

I'm relieved that we had a race without no big troubles nor accidents. I think that is thanks to a local Daiwa-Soyukai, of course including Higashi-san. and Hongo athlete club. Although it is difficult for me about distance-wise [to do back and forth between Hiroshima and Kanto-area where he lives], I wish that I could do more prior arrangements and preparations with them.

奥宮さんが東さんにこの大会のお話をされたのは2010年9月下旬の菅平の大会、開催決定が決まったのは2011年6月頃, 大会開催に向けて本格的に動き出したのは2010年12月頃だったと先日のインタビューで伺いました。あの時から大会の日まで、準備期間は短かったと思います。準備期間で印象に残っていることは何ですか？

今回、準備期間が少し短かったと思います。どこで大会をやるのか？　を含めて、コースの選定に時間がかかりました。コースの選定で印象に残っているのは、広島のトレイルはあちこちにありますが、せっかく整備したトレイルがそのまま手付かずで荒れてしまっている箇所が多いことです。瀬戸内海が見えるトレイルが魅力的でした。

You told me at a previous interview that you told Higashi-san about this race at Sugadaira race at the late September 2010, a race has been decided to be held, it was around June 2011, and a race committee has "actually" started to be on a move December 2010. I believe that you didn't have much time to do everything until the day of a race. What would you remember most during your preparation?

I admit that a preparation period was short. Including a selection of area, we took more time to select courses. During our preparation, I noticed that there are many trails in Hiroshima, but most of them are left without keeping good care of them. I remember trails where you can see the Seto Inland Sea, which are attractive.

これまでゲストとして参加なさった大会・イベントと比べ、規模以外での違いは何だったでしょうか？

あまりトレランが認知されていない土地でのレースということです。もう少し、トレランを広める活動が必要だと感じました。　

What were differences from races or events which you've participated or been invited as a guest?

This race was held in the area [which is Hiroshima]
where trail running is not well-known very much. I thought that
some activities make people got known about trail running is required.

これまでゲストとして参加なさった大会・イベントでの経験が役立った点は何でしょうか？

レースに参加する人の多くは勝ち負けではなく走ることを楽しみに来ているので、そのための工夫を考えることができたことです。特に事前の講習会・体操・レース中の選手との触れ合いなど、意識しました。

What kind of advantages you had out of races or events which you've participated before?
I know that many of those who participate in a race are coming for pleasure, not for their own victories nor defeating others. So I was be able to think something for what they are looking for this race. I focused on a pre-event,
stretch lessons, cheering up them during a race on a course, etc.

ご自身もゆかりのある広島の地ですが、参加者の層で関東エリア・他地域の大会の参加者層との違いを何かお感じになられましたか？

トレランに慣れている人が多い地域では、選手自らが、自分の水・食料は自分で用意するという意識があります。今回はロード大会感覚というか、運営側任せの選手が多かったように思います。運営側もその事を想定して準備していましたが、満足して頂けない点もあり改善が必要だと感じました。

Though you have a private connection with Hiroshima, did you feel some differences with participants between Kanto area or other areas and ones in Hiroshima?
In an area where people get familiar with trail running, they know what they have to do by themselves such as water and food should be preparation by themselves. I think that there are many participants had doing a road race [like marathon] and relied on committee. We committee had expectations of such kind of needs, but there were some aspects which participants
were not satisfied with, so I think we need improvements for them.

今後競技者として他の大会に参加する際、（運営体制等）気にしておこう、という点は何かありますか？

エイドポイントでの補給に何を出しているか？　案内標識はどうしているか？　走ること以外にどのような準備をしているか？　という点です。

When yout participate in other races as one of athletes from now on, what would you care about at those races? For example, about a management, a system of organization etc.
What is served at aid points? How directional sign is made or set?
What kind of preparations have made besides for running? Those kinds of things.

改善すべき点は、改善してより良い大会を目指したいと思います。

There are some tough comments at a race portal site where people gather comments. What would you think of their opinions and how would you like to do for the next race?
Points where we can improve, we do so for making a better race.

第１回に参加された方々、第２回へ参加を考えていらっしゃる方々にメッセージをよろしくお願いいたします。
三原・白竜湖トレイルレース［で走るトレイル］は山岳地帯のトレイルというよりも、里山・裏山のトレイルです。今回のレースで身近に素晴らしいトレイルがあることを知っていただけたと思います。このレースをきっかけに身近にあるトレイルでトレランを楽しんで頂きたいと思います。

また、来年挑戦しようと考えている方は裏山で遊んだ子供の頃のようなワクワクドキドキを胸に、トレランを思いっきり楽しもう！　という気持ちで参加して頂きたいと思います。（事前の準備は忘れずに！）

来年、また広島でお会いできることを楽しみにしています！　よろしくお願いします！

Please give a message to people who have participated in the first race and those who consider a participation to the second race.

Trails of the Mihara Hakuryuko trail race is a trail at small mountains rather than trails of serious mountains. I think that you got to know that there were wonderful trails near you [in Hiroshima]. Hope you would enjoy trail running in trails which are close to you.

To those who are thinking of participate in a race next year, come and join us with much expectations just like when you were little and run around in a yard or mountain. (But with well preparations!)

I am looking forward to seeing you all in Hiroshima next year.

If you look at a sheet closely and carefully,

「Cartor Security Printing」とありますね。1974年（あ、同い年だ）フランスで創業。元々、カマンベールの金属包装のエンボス加工をする印刷会社だったようです。

you'll see a printer's name, Cartor Security Printing. They've been founded in 1974 in France. Originally they were a printing company who does embossed metal-foil Camembert cheese labels.

この切手シートにも載っている富士山。2012年5月はついに日本初の100マイルレース、UTMF（Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji）が開催予定ですね。

You can find Mt. Fuji in this stamp sheet. It'd be a stage of the very first 100-mile race in Japan, UTMF（Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji), in May, 2012.

ちょっと風邪の入口な感じの今朝。オープンサンドがいいですよ、と聞いておきながら掟破りの（？）フレンチトーストにシナモンをたっぷりかけました。

I felt bit stiff around my neck, which means I almost open a door of getting real cold. This bread is good for an open sandwich, she said, but I made French toast with LOTS of cinnamon powder as my desire goes in the Sunday morning.

シナモン（ニッキ）は抗菌性作用もあり、こちらにも風邪をひきそうな時・ひいた時に家庭で手軽に作れるレシピが載っています。これから寒くなりますから、皆さんもご自愛ください。

Cinnamon has an antibacterial action and when you feel to catch a cold or when you actually do, there are recipes with using cinnamon as home remedy. It will get cold from now on, so please take care of yourself.

We run 20km.

「イエンセン」はオーナーの和田さんがデンマークで修行した際の先生の名前だそうです。

JENSEN is a first name of Meister who told Wada-san, owner, in Denmark.

デンマークといえば（広島出身者としては）アンデルセン。そしてデニッシュはお約束メニューで、こちらでももちろんたくさんの種類がありました。

Talking about Denmark, we (those who are from Hiroshima) immediately think of Andersen. And Danish is the very basic menu you can not miss and there are many kinds of them.

が、あえてオープンサンド用の食パンを購入。

But I chose a loaf of bread for open sandwiches.

上に載せる具が引き立つように塩分・油分を控えめにしてあるパン、と教えてもらいました。何を載せようかしら…

They said that it's made of less salt and oil due to make whatever you put on a top more stood out. What shall I put...?

ちなみにここから織田フィールドは近いですよ！

You have your favorite items and it'd worn out soon because you keep using them only over and over. Have you ever had such experiences?

最近靴下でそれがありました。

It happens to my socks recently.

買わなきゃ買わなきゃ…と思って時間ばかりが経ち、穴はもう貫通しそうな勢い。

"I gotta get them," I kept thinking, but not really dropped by a shop. A hole almost gets through.

で、こちらが探しに探してやっと見つけたMizunoの５本指ソックス+すべり止め。

Here is what I've been looking for them everywhere and finally found: Mizuno's 5-finger socks with grip on soles.

薄手で私は気に入ってよく履いています。今回、扱っている実際の店舗をなかなか見つけることができず、秋田のお店から取り寄せました。いやぁ、インターネットはすごいねぇ（笑）。思わず人生初の買いだめです（ホントに）。

This is thin and I like them alot. I just couldn't find a shop on a street so I bought them from an online shop in Akita. Ha! Viva, internet ;-) I bought even two pairs which is my first hoarding ever in my life (Really).

他に使っているのはロード用でinjinji（左）、TABIO（右２つ）

Here are what I use for running on road: injinji (left), TABIO (two at right)

TABIOは初期のタイプを持っているのですが、今販売されているのは機能性タイツとの境目ができないように足首部分が長く改良されたそうです。そう言えば、足首だけ不思議な細い日焼けが昔出来ていたなぁ…（遠い目）

My TABIO is the first generation. The latest one has more longer around ankles, so you won't have funny suntan when you wear compression tights. I used to have a very thin funny suntan at my ankles.

こちらはトレイルランニング用。Halison（左）、X SOCKS（右）：生地も分厚く、着地の際の衝撃をやわらげてくれます。

Here are for trail running. Halison (left), X SOCKS (right). They are thick and would absorb shock when you hit a trail.

膝のニキニキが早く治って走れますように…

things: moxa

先日の大会の１週間前に、最後の練習で足柄峠に行って来ました（なぜ金太郎の足柄峠？　詳しくはこちら）。

One week before a race the other day, I went to practice last Ashigara-toge for my last training (Why Ashigara-toge? More details in this book)

…が、その夜から膝が痛いじゃないですか！（泣）

...but I have a sore knee from that night.

右膝は以前水がたまりました。焦って朝晩のお灸の日々です。

My right knee had water before. The daily morning and evening rush coals.

大会は無事乗り切りましたが、大会が終わってからもどうも膝がニキニキします。

そうラン先輩・ラン友宛につぶやいてみたら

I was alright at a race, but still have funny feeling at my knee. I tweeted so to my running friends.

お返事いただきました、ありがとうございます：）

They got back like: "1) if you have more pain after running, take a break. 2) if you have pain when you are not running, go to hospital. 3) if you are ok to run somehow, make sure to slow down than usual and see how it goes"

"how about giving a massage?"

「ニキニキ」って擬態語１２０％で申し訳ないのですが、小人がお皿の中でちょっと騒ぎつつ、しいて言えば痛み多+痒さ少という感じでしょうか。

What I used niki-niki is 120% imitative word, sorry about that. If I try to describe it hard, it'd be little men are having a party inside of my knee and that would make pain and a little itchy feeling.

というわけで今日もお灸を据えました。

据える箇所は膝蓋（しつがい。お皿のすぐ下左右）、血海（けっかい。膝蓋骨上部内側から指３本あがったところ）、梁丘（りょうきゅう。膝蓋骨上部外側から指３本あがったところ）です。

Anyhow, I did moxa today again.

Where you put them are Shitsugai (right below your knee dish), Kekkai (three fingers above from your dish and inside), Ryukyu (three fingers above from your dish and outside).

膝蓋骨は写真の赤い矢印が骨の淵、指が骨の最大幅を示しています。

A patella (dish) 's lower edge is what red allows are.

お灸は燃え尽きる最後に「キュッ！」と熱くなります。そして燃え尽きてもしばらく置いて余熱を効かせておきます。でも、それを無理して我慢することはありません。気持ちいいところで、ストレスなく試すのが一番だと思います。

Where moxa is burnt out, you'd feel almost really burnt. They said it'd be good to keep it for a while after it's burnt out, but you don't have to put it through yourself if you don't like it. It'd be the best how you feel relax at most, I'd say.

先日の筋肉痛からはすっかり回復いたしました。でも回復の早さは日頃からの過ごし方が重要な鍵ですね。

I've been fully recovered from muscle pain the other day. But we all knew that how fast we could recover depends on how we usually spend days.

ということで、最近食生活にいろいろな要素を取り入れて自ら効き目を実験しています。

So, I've been trying a couple of things in my diet and see how it works.

前回のマヌカに続いて、今回はこちらをご紹介。

黒にんにく Black Garlic

以前新大久保のイベントで買ったことがあったんですけど、なかなかおいしくてずっと韓国産を探していたんですね。これがですね、しっとりしていて、甘いんですよ。

I bought black garlic before at event in Shin Okubo before and it was good. I've been looking for ones from Korea. You may not believe, but this is soft and even kind of sweet.

私は１片／日しか食べていませんが、先の大会の朝は一応、大きな片を食べてみました（笑）。

I eat one piece per day, but I had a big piece in the morning of that race.

きちんと時間内に完走できたので、効き目はあったのでは！？

I guess it works fine cuz I finished within what I was told to do so!? ;-p

産地は慶尚南道（キョンサンナムド）南海（남해／ナンメ）。おや、南海といえば先日ユルゲンさんが着ていたタンクトップにも。

Talking about Namhae-city, Gyeongsangnam-do, Juergen-san wore a tanktop with it printed.

実は大会の朝で食べ切ってここ１週間くらい食べていないんですけど、ちょっと大会後しんどい感じ…？　それは夜、本を読みながら寝ていて、電気をつけたままうっかりした寝たせいではありませんよ、多分…　皆さん、夜はきちんと熟睡しましょう！　

In fact, I already finish them on a race day and have been missing it for about a week or so... I guess that's why I keep feeling bit tired after a race? I don't think it's because I kept a light on when I slept because I was reading in bed... I guess. Is it so? Well, sleep tight at night, everyone!

そんなにずれていなかったのですぐに修正。

こんなにこのサンドイッチの具と同等にパンのうま味を感じたのは初めてかも。

This is the first time when I tasted bread as same as the one of this combination of sandwiches.

大きく大田区までまわって。

Made a big loop toward to Ota ward.

5.5km+11kmくらい？＝合計17kmくらいかな。
