item: VESPA

At a workshop, we tried VESPA Pro before heading out to Yoyogi Park.

I didn't know, only when VESPA is taken with power gel, it’d work at best. I usually take that at the crucial moment and felt like I was recovered enough... I guess there is more recovery I could experience then! Look forward to it at the next race.

After a workshop, we all were treated with NEWTON 1,000 yen coupon! Thank you.

I bought a concentrated version and a solid version which I've been thinking of buying right away.

On a package of solid one, it said that it's ok to have two after training, but I hold myself well to have only one.

It's soybean flour taste and not so much moisture in it, it's like calorie mate with more high density.

It's ok with me to have it as a daily snack.

Run+workshop: newton

There was a running workshop at NEWTON shop in Daikanyama yesterday.

I bought this pair of shoes a while ago, but I hurt my ankle and since then they were sleeping in a shoebox... So, I thought it'd be better to get them air, rather than sub 4:00 at a race.

L-R: Umeda-san from NEWTON shop, Honda-san from STYLE BIKE (from Kyoto!), and Shirakata-san from TopGear.

About 13 participants in total. After Shirakata-san checks each person's running form, we headed to Yoyogi Park from Daikanyama.

Colourful newton shoes stand out, especially against an asphalt.

Shirakata-san explains the form when running. The ideal form is that there is a line through ear, shoulder, hip, a side of knee, and heel.

There are many people in Yoyogi park on holiday: runners, people with pets, and families having a lunch, etc.

Beautiful azalea. Azalea's language of flowers is "moderation," btw.

A round trip and 1km in a park, so it's about 7km in total?

And I took off for TBR6!

Run+movie/book 1:

When did I see this film... "Barefoot Gi Bong."
This movie is based on the real figure, Om Gi Bong.
"The happiest barefoot in the world."

Ah, I remember!
I found its book first by chance at a city library. About one year ago or so.

40-year old Om Gi Bong had fever when he was little and his brain growth was stopped at an age of eight. He loves running and is good at it. The Mayor in his village came up with an idea which sends him to a marathon race. But this film's core is about how deeply Mr. Om loves his mother, not how he practices or runs at a race.

After reading this, I couldn't help asking myself that "do I take care of my folks? If not, why so?"

TBR: oil&water proof paper/

Oil and water proof paper. Anyone knows an official paper name or its brand?

TBR: tape

You see them with a bag which a loaf of sliced bread is in.
L-R: Chenille yarn, S-tie (a wire is inside), and this new one is just wide but thin plastic thread, which is strong enough to keep a bag closed.

About Chenille yarn, it's made of twisted two wires which sandwich short yarn made of acrylic or other materials. I see.

Run+city: manhole

A manhole cover in Hiroshima has its local taste. Yokohama has one of Tourist Attractions, Yokohama Bay Bridge.

The reason why a manhole cover is round is because if it's square, when it's put diagonally, it'd fall down.

Run+history: Tokaido

I run along Tokaido the other day and look into it bit more.

Tokaido Gojusan(53)-tsugi starts at Nihonbashi and it means resting stations along Tokaido. 1-ri is about 4km and 1-ri=36-cho. So, for instance, between Nihonbashi and Totsuka (Totsuka-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa) 10 ri 18 cho would be about 42km.

This is the 5th station from Nihonbashi, called "Ichiba Ichiri-zuka."

You'd notice this kind of signs at every historic sites. It is interesting more than you imagine. My father likes to read them while walking and I didn't like it when I was little. But now I do.

TBR homework

I had a meeting in Asakusa the other day, so I dropped by Andesu MATOBA which my friend recommend for the next TBR.
Andesu named after "An desu (=Sweeten beans paste it is)," not the Andes. They sell not only anpan but also regular breads.

I like this kind of paper bag with printed in one colour.

I love beans. Two colour beans bread (Uguisu and azuki). Uguisu literary means "a bush warbler" but in this case, it means green peas.

Crushed roasted chestnuts are blended in an paste. It's different from this type of marron bread.

There are so many others too! The seasonal anpan is Sakura with pink an paste.

item: headphone

I bought this was a while ago, I think when iPod shuffle was came out. A long wire of a regular earphone drove me crazy while running and I thought that there must be something neat and useful overseas to let me run with wire-free.

Arriva
And I found this, Arriva

When you use it, this way you wear. The wire comes from the front of you and you can bend this wire as you wish to fit your head.

Its weight is 33g, including iPod shuffle.

It seems that I was the first person who ordered this from Japan. Because when I receive it by a regular snail mail, I Email them I was in good receipt and they Emailed me back to say "now we know how long it takes to Japan. Thank you!"

Now they have a choice of earbuds: a regular (mine) and an in-ear type.
