race: Tanzawa Bokka Ekiden

今日、丹沢ボッカ駅伝競争という大会を知りました。

Just got to known Tanzawa-bokka Ekiden race today.

詳細に入る前に「ボッカ」とは何ぞや？　

これは「歩荷」で、文字通り「運送形態の1種で、背中に荷物を背負って人間が目的地まで直接徒歩で運搬すること」（wikipediaより）。

Before I'm going to details, what is Bokka? Bokka is literally "you carry heavy things on your own back and walk to the final destination by foot." (from wikipedia)

With carrying all those kind of gravels? (Actual gravels' appearance may vary... you'll see!)

この大会で運ばれた砂利などを使い、登山道補修が行われるそうです。

But these gravels carried to the top will be used for repairs trails.

●競技方法・コース

表丹沢登山口の大倉にある県立秦野戸川公園をスタートし、大倉尾根～堀山～花立までの登山道（全長６１８７ｍ、標高差１０１０ｍ）を４区間に分け、１チーム４人で規定の重量の荷物（小石の袋詰め）を背負って１人１区間ずつリレーします。

・１区（２７０７ｍ）県立秦野戸川公園（２９０ｍ）～見晴茶屋（標高６１０ｍ）

・２区（１２４１ｍ）見晴茶屋（標高６１０ｍ）～駒止茶屋（標高９００ｍ）

・３区（１０５４ｍ）駒止茶屋（標高９００ｍ）～堀山の家（標高９５０ｍ）

・４区（１１８５ｍ）堀山の家（標高９５０ｍ）～花立山荘（標高１３００ｍ）

Ａ ４０キロ １８歳以上の男子（男女混成も可）１４，０００円

Ｂ１　２０キロ １８歳以上の男子・女子（男女混成も可）１４，０００円

Ｂ３　２０キロ 男子高校生（男女混成も可） ６，０００円

Ｃ １０キロ １５歳以上の女子　１２，０００円 　　

備考：

・規定重量の小石の袋詰は主催側で用意します。 　　

・Ｃクラスで高校生のみのチームの参加料は６，０００円です。

• Competition Guidelines

● Start at the Prefectural Hatano Togawa park. Each team has four members to do ekiden with carrying gravels along a trail from Ookura-Ridge, Horiyama, Hanadate (6187m length, 1010m difference in altitude) is divided into four sections:

• Ward 1 (2707m): Hatano Togawa Prefectural Park (290m) view point Miharashi goya (610m altitude)

• Ward 2 (1241m): from Miharu chaya (610m elevation) to Komadome Chaya (900m altitude)

• Ward 3 (1054m): from Komadome chaya (900m elevation) to Horiyama House (950m altitude)

• Ward 4 (1185m): from Horiyama house (950m elevation) to Hanadate Sanso cavin (1300m altitude)

A category: 40kg men over age 18 (or mixed genders) 14,000 yen

B1 category: 20kg men and women over age 18 (or mixed genders) 14,000 yen

B3 category: 20kg male high school students (6,000 yen for mixed genders

C category: 10kg womens over age 15

NOTES:

• The organizers will prepare for a bag which you carry.

• If a team consists of only high school students at C category, an entry fee would be 6,000 yen.

昔は60kgのカテゴリもあったようですが、一回きりだったようです…

There was 60kg category before, but one time only. No wonder!

暑いくらいの天気だった先週末。

久しぶりにR134沿いに走りに行って来ました。

It was hot day last weekend.

I headed to Enoshima, Hiratuka, Oiso area along Road 134 for running.

毎月第３日曜日に開かれている大磯市。

Oiso market, held on the every third Sunday.

密かなブームの大磯妻にも会えますよ：）

You can meet Oiso wife which is in very subtle boom right now!

運がよければそのご主人・大磯天狗にも会えるかも（私はまだ会えていないんです）。

If you are lucky, you can also meet Oiso Tengu, who is husband (I haven't met him yet).

He is their son, "artist," we call him. He is good at art and judo.

「ねぇ、何でそんなに走るの好きなの？」って聞かれちゃいました。

え？　え〜っとね、え〜っと…（汗）ん〜、走ると気分いいから？　

He asked me "why do you like running?"

"Why? Em, ummmmm... I guess I feel better when running?"

えい、質問返しじゃ！

「何で柔道好きなの？」。「投げ飛ばすの気持ちいいから」。

なるほど。

ところで私が大磯市に着いたのが13:00近く、市が終わる1時間前で食べる物がほとんど売り切れ…　しまったあ〜ッ（涙）。

btw, when I arrived Oiso was around 13:00, which was one hour before the market is over. There was not much to eat left.

奇跡的に残っていたさかえ鮨のちらし寿司。

Only one I found was chirashi zushi of Sakae Zushi.

次回は早く市に着けるようにしよう。おいしいパンは9:30に売り切れになっちゃうらしいから。

Next time I make sure to get there more earlier. Especially breads will be sold out by 9:30, I heard.

大磯駅からコインロッカーが無くなったけん、平塚駅から境川が太平洋に流れ出るところまでの往復で約２７km。あれ、こんなに距離あったっけ〜？

There is no coin locker at Oiso station any longer. About 27km from Hiratuka Station to over Enoshima Aquarium. Eh? Was it that long?

そして帰りにはやっぱりこちら。蒲田の黒湯でさっぱりと。

3月20日のソウルマラソンに参加のため、最後の30km走をしてみました。

I'll take part in Seoul International Marathon on March 20th. I did a last 30k run on Sunday.

コースはいつもの大磯〜江ノ島往復。

大磯駅のコインロッカーが撤去になっていて、泣く泣くJR藤沢駅まで移動。

My regular course is a round trip between Oiso and Enoshima.

Coin lockers were taken away at Oiso Station so that I had to go back to JR Fujisawa Station.

そこから小田急線で片瀬江ノ島駅まで移動して往復、終了。

Then I transfered to Odakyu line to the last station, Katase Enoshima. Re. running, I guess I did ok.

で、帰りに前から寄りたかった、こちらに。

On a way back to home, I dropped by here.

さすが大田区の町工場・蒲田（やや違？）。

Kamata is famous with small factories in Ota ward. I guess they have that sprit.

先代の奥様が趣味で始めたステンドグラスが旅館のリビングに飾られていますが、趣味の域をはるかに越えています。

The previous owner's wife has started stained glass as her hobby and made many lamp shades. They welcome you in a living room and are so beyond of "hobby."

あ、ホテル末広は日本テレビで放映された「遠回りの雨」で渡辺謙が宿泊した旅館として登場もしています。

btw, Hotel Suehiro was shot as a ryokan where Ken Watanabe stayed in a drama at Nihon TV, "Tomawari no ame."

往復で30kmちょっと。

TBR12-1 MARUICHI BAGEL

「パン・ランやってます」と言うと、「XX行った？」「＊＊は？」といろいろな推薦をいただきます。その中でこれまで一番多かったのが今回パン・ラン12で訪ねたこちらです。

When I talk to people about The Bread Running, they recommend many bakeries like "Did you go XX?" "How about **?" And among them, this bakery got the highest vote so far. So, I put them in a route of TBR 12.

お店のホームページにも紹介がある通り、ニューヨークのEss-a-Bagelというお店の手法で作っていらっしゃるそうです。

They make bagels based on the way of Ess-a-Bagel in New York, as they say in their website.

お店に入るとホワ〜っとできたてのベーグルのいい香りが。

As soon as you enter a bakery, you'll be surrounded by smell of just-baked-bagel.

かなり難しい選択肢の中から…

どうですか、この小粒なダイヤくらいある岩塩。塩化ナトリウム補給には十分かと。

Cinnamon raisin, which is my favorite kind of bagels.

どれもできたてでほわ〜っと温かい。週末の朝からぜいたくだ〜。

All bagels I bought was freshly baked. Such a happy way to start a nice weekend.

皆さんからおススメいただいていた通り、モチモチで目のつんだおいしいベーグルですよ！

It was SO good, chewy, and dense. Just as many people said to me.

そうそう、コーンブレッドもほっこりと温かく。

Corn bread was warm too.

お店はひっそりとありますので見逃さないように…

This bakery is blended well in its neighborhood.

そしてこの次は、前回残念賞だったあのお店に向かいます。

And the next one is the one was closed before.
