TBR14-1 Central Park

今回泊まったところがアップタウンだったので、セントラルパークに走りに行くにはとても便利でした。

The place I stay this time is located in uptown, so it was very convenient to go to Central Park for running.

公式サイトにはマイル表示付きのランニング用の地図もアップされています。

The official site has a running map with mile indicators.

ぐるっと1周したところで約10kmでしょうか。

It's about 10km if you run a circle.

6時半ごろに撮った写真ですが、すでに多くのジョガーがいました。

I took this pictures around 6:30 but there are so many joggers out there.

サイクリストもたくさんいました。その写真はまた別枠でご紹介します。

There are lots of cyclists too. I will update later.

で、パンランナーとしては果たすべきミッションがありますので、あるお店に向かったのですが…　

As The Bread Runner, I have a mission to complete. I head to one bakery near by, but...

TBR14-X in NY

どこの国でも同じだと思いますが、新しいお店がオープンになったかと思えば…

I think that it's same in every country, but the one starts their business at one corner...

閉店になったところも。

and the other is closed at the other corner.

そしてその国独特の（？）デザインなファサードなど。Grand and Chrystieのあたり。

And you can tell the difference of cuisines from its facade. This is near Grand and Chrystie.

自分の足で歩いたり走ったり、すればするほど面白いものが見れますね。

The more you run or walk by your own foot in the new town, the more you can see something new and interesting.

おまけ。地下鉄でもB・D線のGrand St.は中国語が併記されていましたねぇ。

PS: Signs at Grand St. Subway B and D lines have Chinese, too.

item: OhYeah!

海外に来た時の楽しみの1つが現地のスーパーや薬局、スポーツ用品店での買い物。今回もちょこちょこ寄っています。

When I come abroad, one of my enjoyments is browsing local supermarkets, pharmacies, and sport gear shops. I do that this time too, of course.

ジャケ買いといいますか、ネーミングで買ったのがコレ。

I bought this because I like its name.

何ですか、「OhYeah!／オーイエ〜ッ！」って（苦笑）。

同じ棚にあったMuscle milkは普通のとライトがあったので、ライトにしてみました。

Who decided "ok, let's call our product 'Oh Yeah!' "?

Milk Muscle are at the same shelf. There are normal one and light one. I chose light one this time.

ちなみにGNCはGeneral Nutrition Centersの略。プロテインパウダーとかビタミンとか売っているお店です。

GNC stands for General Nutrition Centers. This shop sells vitamins or protein powder, etc.

味は後日ご報告… オーイエ〜ッ！な結果が走りで出るのかどうか？

I'll report its taste when I try them later... I wonder how OhYear!-esque result comes out with my running.

TBR14 in NY

というわけで表題の通り、今回のパン・ランはニューヨークからです。

As you see in the title, The Bread Runner 14 is from New York.

今回はベーグル・ランになりそうな予感…！

Run+flower: little white flower

一応、入口からの階段は駆け上がってみたので、ランということで。

I run up at the stairs from an entrance, so I can call this "Run+...", can't I?

苔むす壁面からかわいらしい花が咲いていました。

The little flowers bloom from a wall covered with moss.

葉っぱはハスっぽいですかねぇ…？

Leaves are similiar with lotus leaves...?

大学時代の友人と一緒に（走らず普通に）日光に行って来ました。

I went to Nikko with my friend this weekend (No running included though).

有名な「見ざる聞かざる言わざる」の彫刻。

The famous three wise monkeys' carving.

走りこそしませんでしたが、えぇ、下調べしてきましたよ（笑）。

But I did a little research there.

I feel dizzy with surrounded by freshly baked breads...

一番人気はダイスカットされたプロセスチーズの入ったこちらだそうです。

The most popular one is Cheese Road, which diced procesed cheese are in dough.

ほら、こんなに山がある！　いつかトレランなパン・ランで走りたいですねぇ。

So many mountains in Nikko area. I'd like to come back for The Bread Trail Running.

あ、東武日光駅前にも「金谷ホテルベーカリー駅前店」がありますよ。

There is another Kanaya Hotel Bakery in front of Tobu Nikko station.

そうそう、このあいだのパン・ラン9-1かいじゅう屋さんから中目黒に向かう途中、ちょっと寒かったんです。

When I run from TBR9-1 Kaiju-ya to Nakameguro the other day, it was bit chilly.

で、ほんとはこれ（カフェラテ）と

I wanted to stop by for this (warm cafe latte) and

ここでいただきながら、ちょっと温まりたかったんです。

Yoshiko-san always welcomes customers with her big smile.

以前、インタビューでうかがった際のYoshikoさんのコメントをどうぞ。

「元々NYスタイル（以下NYS）のカフェを考えていたんだけど、NYSっていうのは結局NYでフランス人やイタリア人がカフェを開いたヨーロッパスタイルなのね。だからNYS=ヨーロッパスタイルなんだけど、何百年も続いているヨーロッパのカフェっていうのはアーティストをしっかりサポートしているのね。文化の交流がとても盛んで画家や文筆家がいろいろな意見をカフェで人々と交換していた。そういう雰囲気まるごとここに持ってきたかったのね」（インタビュー全文はこちら）

This is from an interview I've down with her before.

"We've been thinking of NY style cafe (NYS) and in other words, NYS is European style, which French or Italian people open their cafe in NY. The European cafe has supported artist for long time and people exchange view and culture there. We wanted to bring those atomosphere as well here." (An original interview is here)

確かにいつ行っても、こちらは日本のカフェではない雰囲気を感じることができます。

You'd feel an atmosphere of being at cafe "not" in Japan.

壁はアーティストに開放されていて、2週間スパンで新しい作品群に変わります。

Ben's cafe opens their wall to artists and has new artist every two weeks.

今回糖分補給できるスイーツだけ撮ってしまいましたが、食事もしっかりできるカフェです。

I took pictures of only sweets for the sake of sugar supply this time, but they have extensive food menu.

合い言葉は「Drop by and chill out...」。

You'd definitely enjoy to chill out at Ben's cafe.
