JR小倉駅隣接のコンビニでジャケ買いした「くろがね羊羹」。

I bought this Kurogane Yokan at combini next to JR Kokura station because of its nostalgic package.

製造者の公式ホームページに「大正時代末期、官営八幡製鐵所従業員のカロリー補給食として開発、八幡製鐵所で作られたのが、そもそもの起こり」とあります。

At an official website of a manufacturer, "in the late Taisho era, it's developed as a calorie supply food for employees at Yahata Seitetsu-jyo, and has made there. That's how it started."

A night part of TBR5 is for one local bakery.

北九州空港といい、このモノレールといい、メーテルな街ですね、小倉。

You'll see Maetel everywhere in Kokura.

車内にはキャプテンハーロックが！　懐かし〜い！

OMG, Captain Herlock in the monorail. So nostalgic!

で、閉まっているのは分かっていたけれど、訪れたかったところはこちら。

I know it'd be closed at night, but I'd like to visit here.

They sell only three kinds of donuts: an (sweeten red beans), ring shape, and curry.

あれ、時刻のところに手書きで何か書いてありますね、どれどれ…

だんだん開店時間が早まっています（笑）。いろいろなブログを見ると、現在の開店時刻は朝5時過ぎとか。

They keep changing an opening hour earlier. I check a couple of blogs and now they say that they open at just passed AM5:00.

三萩野交差点の高架にはエスカレーターがついています。珍しいな。

A pedestrian bridge at Mihagino crossing has an escalator.

ちなみにメーテルなモノレールは23時台までありますよ。

A monorail runs until after 23:00.

香春口三萩野駅は小倉駅からモノレールで3駅目、4分。

Kawaraguchi Mihagino station is the third one from Kokura station by a monorail, it takes 4 min.

前回の教訓をふまえ、食事パンをメインに選びました。

くるみカンパーニュ（140円）。

Learned from my previous TBR, choose carefully Shokuji-pan (regular bread). Campagne with walnuts.

直焼（160円）。創業者の方が昔食べられた、忘れられない懐かしのパンの記憶を辿って作られたそうです。

Jika-yaki. They produce this bread, based on a memorable bread which a founder's had it long time ago.

このホワホワ感、どうですか！　でもフンワリしながら食べごたえはあるパンです。「あと一口、あとひとくち…」と食べている間になくなってしまいますよ！　

Look how soft it is! Although, it has a decent texture. Be careful, once you have a bite, it's so hard to stop it.

でも1つだけ甘いのも。紅茶オレンジ（220円、マーマレード入り）。

I choose one bread with sweetness. Tea-orange (¥220, marmalade in it).

このガッツリ穀物の入ったのは、次回…！

Next time I'd like to but this heavy one with lots of grains.

ちょっと旦過市場で寄り道した後、路地でふと目についたのがこちら。

After Tanga market, I find this in the back alley by chance.

広島のサロンシネマ1.2に通じる、趣ある映画館です。

A nice, classic movie theater which reminds me Salon Cinema 1.2 in Hiroshima.

今は「社会派巨編特集 ～山本薩夫監督生誕百年～」を特集していて、仲代達矢氏の若〜いころの出演作「不毛地帯」などを上映しています。見たかった！

Now they have Director Satsuo Yamamoto's 100th birthday anniversary feature and are showing "Fumo Chitai (The Waste Land)," casting Tatsuya Nakadai, when he was in his 40s, and other social works.

旦過市場からはほんとにすぐ。

Showa-kan theater is Just around a corner from Tanga market.

最終目的地まではもうすぐです。
I'm almost there.

来た道をそのままではつまらないので、高速道路の下に入らずちょっと変えてR3をそのままR270まで走ります。

It's fun to change a return way so I go straight along Route 3 until hit Route 270.

そして金田陸橋を渡り…

And run over the Kanada overpass...

勝山公園に戻って参りました。

I'm back to Katsuyama park.

広々と広がる芝生。

Spacious lawns spread over 19.5ha (including Kokura castle site).

幸せな週末の風景です。

ここがウワサの旦過市場か！

Ah, this is well known Takga market, isn't it!

シー・シェパードもびっくりの鯨肉が売られているのは予習して行きましたが、さすがにサクを生では食べることができません…　でも、これじゃったらいいかも！

I did my homework about this market street and know whale fresh is sold here. But it'd be bit difficult to eat it raw so I choose this marinated sardine instead.

HPによると「百年床のぬか味噌に吉勝特製の甘辛みとうまみのある味付けをほどこし」ているそうです。骨ももちろん柔らかく、ご飯がどんどん進むお味でしたよ。

They say "adding Yoshikatsu special sweet and hot seasonings into nuka miso, aged for 100 years." Of course bones are all soften enough to eat and it'd be the best okazu for rice.

今、改めていろいろ調べてみたら、こんな素敵なお店もあったんですね！　しまったぁッ！（…ととと、でもこれではパン・ランから大分反れますね）

I didn't know that there is such a good service I could have at the end of Tanga market street! Darn! (but it won't be The Bread Runner, is it?)

Thanks to OCM, now I'm fully charged and ready to take off. Kokura castle is seen beyond a bridge.

おいしそうなプリンには脇目も降らず！　

…が、先ほどサイトを見て激しく後悔。でもあの時点ではがんばっても食べれんかったなぁ、と思ったら東京に来てますね、今！　素晴らしい！

Oh, I wish I could try this custard pudding... wait! I find out that they are in Tokyo now! Yahoo!!

城周囲の勝山公園を横切ります。

I get cross in the Katsuyama park around a castle.

葉桜8割といった感じでしょうか、小倉城周辺。

Sakura is almost gone...

寅年だからではなく、常時この迎え虎・送り虎はいるみたいですね。

These tigers are always at a castle and are called Mukae-dora (tiger to welcome you) and Okuri-dora (tiger to see you off).

小倉駅で松本清張記念館のを見つけていたのですが、城内でしたか…　ちょっと覗いてみたかった。

I saw this advert of Seicho Matsumoto memorial museum at Kokura station, but didn't pay attention enough to know it's in Katsuyama park. Next time.

さ、後で用事が待っているので先を急ぎます。栗好きとしては立ち寄りたかったけど、今日はバックパックなしで走っているのでスルーな甘栗太郎…

As a marron lover, this Amaguri Taro is tempting. But today I don't carry a backpack, so had to pass it.

高速道路下に入る前に、菜園場地下道を通りましょう。そうしないと踏切を渡るのにえらく大回りになってしまいます。

You need to get through this Saien-jo underground road. Otherwise you have to make a big detour to cross a railway.

高速道路沿いにしばらく走ります。

Go west at the Shimo Itozu lamp-mae crossing.

モクレンの花が綺麗ですね。

This gas station says ¥129 for regular unleaded. I find this site by chance. Is it useful, drivers?

and when you hit a Higashi Otani crossing, don't cross. Turn your head to south.

とても優しい笑顔の店長の山口さん。昔、到津の森動物園にぞうさんが来ることになったとき、いろいろお世話をされたことが店名の由来だそうです。

A baker Yamaguchi-san with very sweet smile. When elephants came to Itodu zoo before, he's taken care of them. That's how named after his memorable experience.

買ったのは、五穀豊穣（あわ、うるち、ごま、それから… 必死に確認中！　170円）。

Gokoku-Hojyo (Rich harvest): Millet, glutinous, sesame, and... try to remember the rest now! ¥170)

わしっと手でちぎってみました。こんな感じです。

I tear it by hand in half.

塩小豆（170円）。中にはいっている小豆が柔らかいけど歯ごたえはちゃんと残っていて絶妙です。あやうく完食しそうでした（翌朝用にとっておかないと）。

Shio Azuki (salty red beans). Azuki inside have a right crunchy. Almost eat it all. I need to save it for tomorrow morning.

窓際のぞうさんにも見送られながら…　次へ出発です。

追記：

西通りプリン出張ワゴンをJR品川駅コンコースに訪ねました（JR上野駅には常設店あったのですね）。出店チームが全国を回っているそうです。それにしても立ち止まる男性客多し。

"Nishi-doricustard pudding" stand at concourse of JR Shinagawa station (There is a shop at JR Ueno all the time. I find it out today...). Exclusive staff members are travel around all over Japan with this wagon. I was surprised to see several men were stopping by to buy them for just 5 minutes or so.

It was the first time to see "sweets danshi (men who have a sweet tooth)" for real.
