Run+something: public bath

都内の銭湯で風呂屋の富士山詣で開催中（〜9月30日）。10スタンプでオリジナル銭湯背景画・赤富士（280mm×420mm）がもらえるそうです。

A stamp relay, "courtesy visiting to Mt. Fuji at Sento," at any registered public bathes in Tokyo (until Sep. 30). Get 10 stamps for an original public bath's painting of the red Mt. Fuji.

スタンプカードは都内の加盟浴場で配布中ですが、数に限りがあるそうですから急げ〜。

The stamp card itself is available at any registered sento, but it's a limited number. Hurry up!

最後はやっぱりパン？パヴェ（¥190）、中がとてもモッチモチです。

...ending up with bread, as usual? Pave is softly full-textured.

ちなみにPaveはおフランス語で「石畳」らしいですね。

Pave means stone pavement in French.

そんな20kmちょっとでした。

That's how I run for 20km and a bit today.

TBR1-8B 充麦つづき

三崎口の敵を横浜で…ではないですが、充麦さんが横浜そごうにいらしてらっしゃるのでお訪ねいたしました。

I take advantage of Mitsumugi at Yokohama SOGO for an event to visit. (A last time how I miserably failed is here...)

朝採れのキャベツも！

They also sell cabbages they took from a field in the morning!

充麦さんは三浦で自家栽培された小麦を使用しています。

Mitsumugi uses the wheat which they grow in Miura by themselves.
コンプレ（￥225）を購入。自家製小麦100％、オーガニック・レーズンの天然酵母を使用だそうです。少し酸味がありますが、噛めばかむほど味わうことのできるしっかりしたパンです。

Complet, using 100% of homemade wheat and yeast of organic raisins. It's bit sour but has a nice texture and the more you bite, the more you enjoy.

ところでコンプレとはおフランス語で「完全な」という意味だそうな…　ですよね、充麦さん！？

btw, Complet means "completed" in French... is that right, isn't it, Mitumugi-san!?

item: power gel in Korea

こちらは韓国のパワージェル。
Here are Korean power gel.

赤いのはウージン／웅진社の「스피드 젤／スピードジェル（熱帯果物味）」、緑のはパワー／파워社の「에너지 젤／エナジージェル（りんご味）」。
The red one is Woogjin's "speed gel" and the green one is Power's "energy gel."

「スピードジェル（熱帯果物味）は一体どんな味が…！？」とドキドキしながらある週末食べてみたけど、なんだかマミーの味が一番近かった気がいたしました。
I was so excited to try Speed gel but its taste turned out that it's almost Morinaga's lactic acid beverag, Mammy.

あ、今調べたらエナジージェルには爽やかなパッケージのもあるんだ。味はりんごで一緒みたいですね。

Ah, an energy gel has a different package design, doesn't it? Its taste is same, apple, though.

item: real food in Korea

以前にさらっと紹介した、韓国らしい補給食をもう一度。

I introduced this before very briefly, but today I'd like to add bit more information.

（上段左より）キャラメル（W700=約￥55）、チョコパイ（数袋セットで箱売り）、羊羹（W500=約￥40）です。

(From top left) Caramel candy (W700 = about ¥ 55), chocolate pie (sold as assorted), and yokan (sweet adzuki‐bean paste jello in bar shape, W500 = about ¥ 40) is.

キャラメル、チョコパイ「情」はオリオン（注意：音が出ます）という会社の製品です（てっきりロッテかと思っていましたが、違いましたね）。チョコパイは1974年発売開始だそうですから、もう36年のベストセラーですね。中にマシュマロが入っています。できたきっかけは欧州出張中に研究員が立ち寄ったカフェで、チョココーティングされたビスケットを食べたときにヒントを得たそうです。そうそう、映画『JSA』の印象的なシーンでもこのチョコパイが使われていますね。

Caramel candy and chocolate pie "jyon" are made by Orion (Note: a link with sound) (I thought that it's made by Lotte, but I guess not!) It is said that chocolate pie was produced in 1974 and it's been the best seller for 36 years since. A marshmallow is inside. Researchers dropped by at cafe while business traveling in Europe, they ate chocolate coated biscuits. That is how they got inspired. Ah, also, it's used as an important item in films such as "JSA."

羊羹はヘテ製菓の製品です。羊羹の紹介ページを見ると「1945年以来の」、「おじいさん、おばあさんも食べた」とありますから、こちらはロングセラーですね。駅の自販機でも、キオスクでも必ずと言っていいほど売っています。

Yokan is a product of Haitai. At Yokan's introduction page, it says that "since 1945", "Grandpa, Grandma ate" so this is a long seller. It's available at vending machines or kiosks at stations.

昨年参加したソウルの山岳マラソンでは給水所でこんな風にふるまわれました。

At trail running race in Seoul which I took part in, they served chocolate pie at an aid station like this.

ラン+アルファ/Run+something

走っている友人が「（遠征時、レース前に時間的な余裕があれば物色して）その土地のものを補給食にして走りたい」と言ったのを聞いて、とてもいいアイディアだと思いました。

A friend of mine who also runs said that if time allows, she would like to buy local food in advance of a race and likes to enjoy it during a race as supplements. I think it's a great idea.

韻を踏んでいるのと始めやすいのでパン・ランが最近のメインコンテンツになっていますが、このブログの趣旨はトップに掲げてあるように「ラン+アルファ」です。

Although I make The Bread Runner as the main content recently it's because its name has a rhyme and it's easy to get started, an originl purpose of this blog is "Run+something" as it's written at the top.

先のくろがね羊羹も調べることによって昔習った八幡製鉄所のこととか、ちらっとでも思い出せば走る以上の何かを得ることになります。ラン+駅弁でその駅・地域の歴史勉強でも、トレイルラン+その山の植生、ラン+史跡めぐりでも、ラン+大会が開催される都市についての勉強でも、ラン+山手線一周で鉄道の歴史でも、何でもいいのです。また調べていくうちに、地元の方何人かと話も交わすことになるでしょう。何かしらプラスアルファで走るって、私は楽しいと思うのです。

For instance, about that Kurogane Yokan, at the moment when I remember a history class at the elementary school when I learned about Yawata Ironworks, it's already more than just running. Run+Ekiben can be studying history of that station or that local area, trail running+vegetation in the mountains, run+historic sites, run+city where you go to, run+Yamanote line about railway history, whatever would work. During your research, you may have a little chat with local people. Don't you think it'd be fun? I think so.

item: real food

JR小倉駅隣接のコンビニでジャケ買いした「くろがね羊羹」。

I bought this Kurogane Yokan at combini next to JR Kokura station because of its nostalgic package.

製造者の公式ホームページに「大正時代末期、官営八幡製鐵所従業員のカロリー補給食として開発、八幡製鐵所で作られたのが、そもそもの起こり」とあります。

At an official website of a manufacturer, "in the late Taisho era, it's developed as a calorie supply food for employees at Yahata Seitetsu-jyo, and has made there. That's how it started."
